International Medical Charity Work
Haroon founded, runs, and fundraises for the UK-based medical charity IMRA (International Medical Relief Agency), which he set up to provide medical relief across the world.
He has grown IMRA into the world's largest charitable provider of free Cochlear Omplants (each device costs approximately £10,000) and, through IMRA, Haroon has so far given the life-transforming gift of hearing and speech to more than 150 impoverished, profoundly deaf children in Pakistan.
The charity's first major work was to build temporary wards for victims of the 2005 earthquake in Northern Pakistan. The charity also donates vital medical equipment to medical establishments in Pakistan, Gambia and Senegal.
Beyond IMRA, Haroon is an executive member of the UK-registered charity Medical Aid UK, through which he has made outstanding contributions to the free provision of life-transforming kidney dialysis to patients in Pakistan
He was actively involved till 2016 with the Noor Foundation, which also provides free kidney dialysis in Pakistan and was instrumental in the setting up of two free dialysis centres in Karachi and one in Mirpurkhas, in Sindh province.
"Without Haroon's vision and ongoing commitment, there would be no IMRA and many poor, profoundly deaf children in Pakistan would still be trapped in a world where they were unable to hear and talk. He is the beating heart of IMRA"Mrs Razia Shamim MBE
Aiding the development of other doctors
Haroon is an experienced ENT consultant who is committed to helping junior ENT doctors increase their knowledge and skills. This support includes organising free academic meetings where experts share their experiences.
He is seen as a role model and trailblazer for aspiring young doctors of South Asian heritage, having successfully risen through the hospital clinician ranks, and in so doing made it easier for others to follow.

Supporting the Muslim community in Britain
Haroon has done much to support the community in Britain and promote cohesion.
He secured the first radio licence for Radio Ramadan in North West and 5th in the UK in 1997, which had become a much-appreciated educational and faith support resource for the community.
For eight years Haroon has been in charge of the Media Committee for the British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC) and continues to support their important work as an advisor to their executive team.
